Suitable for early and late sowings, Stanley is a dwarf French bean variety which produces a heavy crop of long, straight pods. With good disease resistance, the pods are best picked when young and tender, and freeze well.

Sow these beans in individual pots in March or April in a greenhouse, or under glass. If you are starting your crops early, sow each seed in a separate pot, 5cm deep in the soil. Then, place in a sunny spot or in a propagator to allow the seeds to germinate. You can then plant out the seedlings in May or June, or when all danger of a frost has passed.
Allow 25cm between each plant, and 75cm between each row.
