Why you Should Switch to Aluminium for your Cosmetic Packaging

It’s Eco-Friendly

Commonly referred to as the "green metal", aluminium is infinitely recyclable, contributing to its growth in popularity in the cosmetic industry.

It is extremely lightweight, and can be washed out and reused time and again. Unlike plastic and many other materials used in everyday single-use products, aluminium does not degrade over time, or rust.

Being infinitely recyclable means that aluminium can be repurposed over and over again, without breaking down and having to go to landfill. To give an example of this in practice, around 75% of all aluminium ever produced in the US is still in use today

Recycling aluminium saves around 95% of the energy used to produce it in the first place. The more times it is recycled, the better it is for the planet.

It’s Safe for Cosmetic Use

Despite some claims that aluminium may release harmful toxins, aluminium is a popular and proven safe material used by plenty of eco-friendly brands, including Wild Deodorant, REN Skincare and Unilever’s Love Beauty and Planet Line.

Aluminium’s opaque material fully blocks UV light, keeping products fresher for longer. The impermeable barrier and tight seal also prevent moisture or oxygen from reaching the contents, preventing products from early spoiling.

Consumers Want Sustainability

Forbes reported in 2022 that 58% of consumers across all age groups are now willing to spend more on sustainable products, and this number is growing.
